Terms of Service
Effective Date: [insert date you publish this]
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Holy Roam mobile application and the website at holyroamllc.com (together, the “Service”), operated by Holy Roam LLC (“Holy Roam,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
This document is a draft prepared to reflect the Service as currently built. We recommend having it reviewed by an attorney before publishing.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
2. Your Account
You’re responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Usernames must comply with our naming guidelines (no impersonation of staff, clergy, or others; no profane, sexual, or blasphemous content) and are subject to removal or reassignment if they violate these guidelines.
3. Acceptable Use
When using any feature that lets you share content with others — including reviews, journal entries marked public, prayer board intentions, or your profile — you agree not to post content that:
- Is sexually explicit, obscene, or pornographic
- Promotes or references illegal drug use, violence, or self-harm
- Is hateful, harassing, or discriminatory
- Mocks, blasphemes, or is intended to demean the Catholic faith or any religious belief
- Impersonates any person, parish, clergy member, or organization
- Contains spam, solicitation, or commercial advertising unrelated to the Service
- Violates any applicable law
We use automated filtering and user reporting to help identify content that violates these guidelines. We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this section, at our discretion, with or without notice.
No direct messaging. The Service does not currently support private messaging between users. Content shared with friends (journal entries, prayer boards) is visible to those friends within the app but is not a substitute for private communication, and should not be used for information you wouldn’t want a friend group to see collectively.
4. Reporting Content
Every piece of user-shared content (reviews, public journal entries, prayer board intentions) includes a way to report it. Reports are reviewed by us; we do not guarantee a specific response time, but we act on reports in good faith and in a reasonable timeframe.
5. Friends and Prayer Boards
Friend connections and prayer board membership are opt-in and require mutual acceptance (friend requests) or, for prayer boards, both an accepted invitation and separate approval by the board’s owner. You can leave a prayer board, unfriend another user, or block another user at any time. Blocking is one-directional and the blocked user is not notified.
6. Parish Listings and the Claim Dashboard
Parish information (Mass times, confession times, location, and related details) is compiled from public sources, including parish websites, diocesan directories, and the Google Places API, and may also be submitted directly by verified parish staff.
Parish staff may claim their parish’s listing at no cost, using a work email associated with the parish. We may independently verify claims that don’t meet our automatic verification criteria, and we may revoke claimed status at our discretion if we determine a claim was made in error or in bad faith.
Claiming a listing, and all associated editing features, is and will remain free. Certain supplementary features (such as usage analytics) may be offered as part of an optional, voluntary support tier, described separately; the ability to claim and maintain an accurate listing is never conditioned on payment.
While we take reasonable steps to keep parish information accurate, we do not guarantee its accuracy or completeness, and Mass and confession times may change without notice. Always confirm time-sensitive information directly with the parish before relying on it.
7. Liturgical and Saint Information
Liturgical calendar information (season, color, Holy Days of Obligation, saints and feast days) is curated for general reference and is not a complete Ordo. It should not be relied upon as an official or complete liturgical resource. Consult your parish bulletin or diocese for authoritative information.
8. Third-Party Content
Ratings, reviews, and photos sourced from Google are provided by Google and reflect the views of their original authors, not Holy Roam. We are not responsible for the accuracy of third-party content displayed in the Service.
9. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Account tab; this permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior toward other users, or misuse the Service.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that parish information will always be current.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Holy Roam LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on parish information that turns out to be inaccurate or outdated.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
